| 内容記述 | Among studies of queue-cutting, cutting a queue is often considered as a symbol of rebellion against Qing Dynasty, also as a consent to Republican system. However, almost of these studies concerned only the situation before the release of "Queue-Cutting Order" in 1912, and the status after 1912 remained unclear. This paper is aiming to discuss the orders and ordinances released after 1912, complete the history of queue-cutting as possible. As a result, besides "Queue-Cutting Order", Ministry of Interior also released three essential orders-"Six Articles of Queue-Cutting adjuration" (1914), "Queue Prohibition" (1928), and "Submission of Research Table of Queue-Cutting Survey" (1932)-to forbid queues. According to these orders, men were required to cut their queues in three months, and whom do against the orders would be punished with fines, or investigated for criminal responsibility in some cases. Provinces, Cities and Counties followed the Ministry of Interior and then published a series of interdictions. So me regions also constructed their original queue-cutting policies based on regional reality. Distinguished from Ministry of Interior's orders, in these original policies, the deadline of queue-cutting was shortened and the fines were increased. Nonetheless, still it is difficult to draw the whole picture of queue-cutting policy in Republican China because of two reasons. Firstly, some publications and newspapers have not been dug out this time, therefore some information might be omitted. Secondly, situation after 1937 remains blank because the war between China and Japan brought everything but war inferior, and no queue-cutting policies are discovered until today. These issues are likely to be solved in future research. | |||||||||||
