| 内容記述 | In recent years, the need for competency when it comes to comprehending and integrating information from multiple texts is growing more important. The goal of integration from multiple documents is typically to compose coherent, eaningful representations of a topic or issue shared by available sources. This article reviews research and theory concerning integration from multiple texts, focusing especially on three diff erent facets of reading multiple documents: cognitive processing, the reader's affective stance on a topic, and the reader's epistemic belief. Moreover, as orientation for further research, needs for considering the various relations among multiple documents are discussed. Most of the previous studies in this area have targeted reader comprehension in situations where the relation among multiple texts is confl icting or contradictory, which is limiting because people also encounter multiple sources involving relations that are complementary or in agreement over the course of daily reading activity. A few studies have suggested that two types of multiple-document relation, confl icting and complementary, diff er in terms of the cognitive processing involved in comprehension of the author's viewpoint, the recognition of links between the contents and the sources, and the length of reading time. Therefore, when people read multiple texts that have various types of relation, how do individual variables such as affective stance and epistemic belief affect comprehension? This is a remaining issue for future research. | |||||||||||
