| 内容記述 | This paper attempts to approach the essence of non-modern thought through the description of Guards at the Taj (2015=2020), a two-person play by playwright Rajiv Joseph, from a nonmodern perspective. The first half of the book attempts to understand the theory of Bruno Latour, a proponent of non-modernism, through comparisons and associations with other scholars, and the second half of the book analyzes Guards at the Taj. As a result, I came to the conclusion that the beginning of the non-modern idea is to understand that modern man is simultaneously happy and unhappy because he believes in an "absolute" through dichotomies that do not exist in reality. By separating nature or society, things or people, Latour states that those who call themselves moderns have developed science and constitutional law. In reality, however, they are connected by a network and cannot be completely disassociated. Guards at the Taj was originally written with a cast of characters, including a king and an architect, but the first draft of the script was so boring that it was rewritten as a two-person show. Thus, purified as a two-man show, the play The Taj Mahal Guards confirms to us the existence of a network that cannot be pretended to be a dichotomy because of the unnatural and uncomfortable absence of the many actors on stage who are supposed to be maintaining a huge empire. | |||||||||||
