| 内容記述 | In 2018, the position named Certified Public Psychologist was officially authorized as a first national qualification in the field of psychology. Accordingly, it is expected that the work fields related to psychology will steadily expand in the field of education. Taking advantage of this opportunity, I would like to provide an overview of the process of introducing school counselors (SCs) in Japan and examine the challenges and prospects on SCs' activities. The environment surrounding children got complicated along with social changes. Consequently, the time has come when experts from various fields such as education, psychology and welfare must cooperate with one another to cope with difficulties including students' problematic behaviors at school. Twenty-four years have passed since SCs were introduced in 1995 and there is no doubt that SCs have got arranged extensively, however, we should notice the fact that some point out, “There is difference in SCs' skill and work experience and that causes a large disparity in utilizing SCs in every school." We should take this indication seriously, and at the same time, we need to enhance the research and training system and back-up measures in professional organizations as well as SCs training and recurrent education at universities. Furthermore, in order to fulfill an expected important role as a counselor, it is indispensable for a counselor to ensure the expansion of working hours and the guarantee of status as a professional occupation. | |||||||||||
