| 内容記述 | This paper focuses on the elementary teacher training and recruitment systems in Korea, and introduces fact about the elementary teacher training institutions, teacher qualification standards, and teacher recruitment examinations, as well as providing specific examples. In addition, the characteristics of the Korean teacher training and recruitment systems are examined from the perspective of comparison to those in Japan. Unlike the “open system" teacher training system in Japan, Korea trains elementary teachers at only 13 universities nationwide. In addition, in order to acquire teaching qualifications, it is necessary not only to prepare the required credits but also to satisfy certain criteria such as grade benchmarks and passing an aptitude test. In recent years, based on social demands, teacher training reforms, such as stricter standards for acquiring teacher qualifications, have been promoted as a way to improve the practical skills of teachers. In addition, in Korea, teacher recruitment examinations are conducted in two stages, the first of which uses a common examination throughout the country, and the second of which is a region-specific examination such as an interview and demonstration. Overall, the elementary teacher training and recruitment systems in Korea are characterized by the fact that their standards are set at national level in detail, which may lead to the uniformity of elementary teachers nationwide. Japan and Korea have similar social and cultural backgrounds; therefore it is expected that each country can learn from the other's teacher training system. | |||||||||||
