| 内容記述 | In this paper, I set up three analytical models on occupational orientation separating aversion to lower status from preference to higher status. First, “consensus" model is that people prefer to higher status and/or averse to lower status regardless of their objective status. Second, “level discrepancy" model is that people's preference and/or aversion compared to their objective status are observed and that they prefer to upward mobility and/or averse to downward mobility regardless of their status. Third, “interaction" model is that people's preference and/or aversion depend on their objective status. To examine the models, data from a Web survey conducted in 2013 are used. The sample consists of males or females in labor force between 20 and 59 years old, which is divided in analyses into four groups according to their sex and age. Multilevel binary logistic regression is applied to each data, in which the dependent variable is set to prefer or not, and avert or not to each occupation shown in the survey. The “consensus" model is accepted only for male middle-aged preferences, and the “interaction" models are accepted for others. As for preference, the discrepancies by objective status are observed on occupational prestige, but not on employment status. On the other hand, as for aversion, the discrepancies are detected in most cases. So in order to capture occupational orientations related to reproduction of inequality, it will be necessary in future research to collect data on occupations to be avoided. | |||||||||||
