| 内容記述 | This article examines the acceptance of Japanese food and its relationship with anime viewing and the perception of traditional food among University students in Laos. It draws on the responses of 15 female and 15 male students to questions on their knowledge of Japanese culture, eating experience with Japanese food, experience of viewing Japanese anime, foreign food eating habits, and perception of traditional food. The students had a variety of backgrounds in terms of their study major, birth place, home town, and the length of time living in the capital where the university is located. It was found that the mother's role as family cook is taken over by daughters when they become mature, implying that the person who chooses the menu changes over a short period of time, and thus new foods, including Japanese foods, may become part of the family menu in a relatively short time. Anime-viewing experience seems not to influence the preference for Japanese food, and most of the students from local towns are consious of the taste difference between the capital's Lao food and the traditional food in their home. As the preference for the taste of traditional foods is weakening, the Japanese foods with similar taste to Lao traditional foods may become more accepted. | |||||||||||
