| 内容記述 | Anti-footbinding has been regarded as an essential component of women's liberation in China; consequently, there have been numerous studies on anti-footbinding. However, regional studies on anti-footbinding have not seen significant development. In Henan, which is located in mid-China, traditional thinking is still deeply rooted and the old habit of foot binding has still not been abandoned after the Revolution of 1911. Compiled by the Henan Provincial Foot- Releasing Office, Fang zu cong kan (Collection of periodicals on Foot-Releasing) records the footreleasing circumstances across Henan during the period of the republic of China, which had a profound impact on the development of Henan. Based on the Fang zu cong kan, which is one of the compilations of periodicals on modern Chinese women, this book briefly describes the foot-releasing campaign (1927–1928) initiated by the Henan Provincial Foot-Releasing Office and people's attitudes toward it. | |||||||||
