| 内容記述 | The purpose of this paper is to consider the regional differences in the actors (relatives and non-relative acquaintances) in the informal social support network of childrearing women. The dataset was used targeting women living in the same household with children at the age of 0 to 12 years old in Nara Prefecture, partly located in and partly adjoins the Keihanshin Major Metropolitan Area of the Western Japan. Social support is measured by the four items that are related to mental and instrumental support for childrearing and to mental and instrumental support for general matters. The set of three-layer "regional types", which are New Residential District (NRD), Old City Center (OCC) and Rural Area (RA), is constructed to compare women's social support network. In NRDs and OCCs, mental and instrumental support for childrearing and instrumental support for other matters than childrearing are dependent on the proximity of the place of residence of their mother and mother-in-law. If they do not live near them, there is a tendency that instrumental support for childrearing is provided by acquaintances through their children. In contrast to this, in RAs there is a tendency of low-level reliance on specific relatives such as mother or mother-in-law. It is so because it is relatively easy for women to obtain instrumental support by the husbands' relatives and because it is relatively easy to obtain mental support for other matters than childrearing by acquaintances through women's work or school or their community. In this way, the region types define the distance to the relatives, and diversity and accumulation of social network of non-relatives. The region types have an effect on the way of informal social support for childrearing women through those social networks. | |||||||||||
