| 内容記述 | The “Kyocho" technique originated in ancient China and was passed on to Japan by the 7th century. “Kyocho" is the technique which use many layers of the hempen cloth soaked in “Urushi" (Japanese lacquer) to create a object. The Kyocho coffin excavated from the Kengoshi-Zuka tomb was created by this technique. The purpose of this study is to analyze the fibrous tissue of the cloth and to consider the technique used for the coffin owned by Nara Women's University. The coffin includes densely woven fabric structures comprising 35 pieces of hemp and one piece of silk which covered the surface. The density of the hempen cloth used for the coffin has the some variety of the weave. Some pieces of the cloth have high density and some pieces have low density. (This variance is due to the differences in the weaving machines and the models.) On the other hand, the hempen cloth used for the Buddhist images made in the Nara period has the uniformity of the warp and welt thread. The analysis result showed that the different cloth was used depending on the particular object. | |||||||||||
