| 内容記述 | Previous studies on political participation have found that people who join organizations or groups are more politically active than those who do not. This paper aims to explore why group activity is related to political participation. Two hypotheses are tested using empirical data: (1) The experience of group activity predisposes people to political participation by increasing a sense of political efficacy; (2) in groups, individuals increase network members and develop networks consisting of many different people, increasing their interest in a society, and thus are likely to participate in politics. The analysis clarifies the following points. First, it shows that experience of group activity predisposes people to political participation by increasing a sense of political efficacy. Second, experience of group activity expands network size and diversity of networks, but does not influence political participation. Third, experience of group activity has a significant effect on political participation when political efficacy is controlled. | |||||||||||
