| 内容記述 | There are short stories about a woman named Kaminaga-hime (髪長比売) in the "Kojiki" and the "Nihon Shoki". The stories differ slightly from each other, and this report focuses on the one in the "Kojiki". The stories said that the Emperor Ojin (応神) heard about her beauty and he wanted to marry her. However his son Osazaki no Mikoto (大雀命) also herd the same feelings and fell in love with her too. He asked his father the emperor to give her up as his wife. And the story recorded the poems of the Emperor Ojin and Osazaki no Mikoto. There are other reports discuss which there poems and Osazaki no Mikoto. This paper denies the old interpretation of her name in association of long hair with beauty and reconsiders its original meaning, referring to examples of ancient personal names. It then examines the significance of her native country Himuka (日向). It also discusses the importance of marriage between Osazaki no Mikoto and Kaminaga-hime in the "Kojiki". This paper concludes that the story was necessary for justifying Osazaki no Mikoto's succession to the throne despite the fact that he was not chosen by the Emperor Ojin, and that the true meaning of the name Kaminaga-hime is closely related to this purpose. | |||||||||||
