| 内容記述 | This study attempts to clarify the factors which affect various uses of the Internet in Japan: Internet anxiety, needs for information and motives for Internet communication. A survey was administered through the postal service. and data were gathered from 222 Japanese adults (aged 25 to 45 years), including some people who infrequently or rarely use the Internet. The usage of various Internet services were analyzed by principal component analysis and five principal components were obtained; mobilephone Internet. PC Internet (information service), PC Internet (community service), mohile-phone mail and online game. Cluster analysis was performed on the patterns and five distinct subtypes were identified. People who use various Internet services frequently revealed lower Internet anxiety. higher needs for information gathering and higher motives for Internet communication than the other types of users. On the contrary, people who use almost only mobile-phone mail revealed higher Internet anxiety. The characteristics of people who hardly use mobilephone mail were also discussed. | |||||
