| 内容記述 | The Ovoo ritual has occupied an important position in traditional Mongolian culture and religious beliefs for several hundred years. Each year the tribes of Mongolia construct Ovoos, of conical stacks of stones and wood, in their traditional regions. For some this will be the shores of a lake, a forested, hilly or mountainous area which is sacred in their respective regions. Today the traditional Ovoo ritual is an expression of the community's moral and religious integration, which emphasizes the identity of the Mongolian ethnic minority. In Inner Mongolia the Ovoo ritual has come to represent the ethnic and cultural revitalization which has characterized the resurrection of religious faith in modern times. This manuscript will attempt to both review current literature on the Ovoo ritual and expand this research through an analysis of fieldwork materials. In particular it will focus on revealing the essential differences between ritual Ovoo and those that served as guideposts, goal markers and boundary markers. | |||||||||||
