| 内容記述 | In the prewar days the propriety of the preparation of a special class for“ poor-minded children" was discussed between advocates and dissenters. The dissenters argued that the preparation of a separate class for“ poor-minded children" might bring about harmful influences such as discrimination and prejudices, while advocates asserted that educational effects would be obtained from the separation. It is worthy of note that the discussions those days are similar to the present-day debate on“ integration" and “separation." This thesis intends to find a key to grasp the views of the Ministry of Education and schools actually engaged in teaching, through exemplifying the advocating opinions for the special class by two persons. The two individuals are Seishiro Aoki, a temporary staff member of the Ministry of Education, who made efforts to establish and develop a special class during the second period of promulgation of the special class, and Naraishi Nishikubo, a licensed teacher of Sakurai Elementary School in Nara prefecture, who established a special class along with the trend of new education at that time. This is because both these individuals clearly developed their own advocating positions for the special class, by refuting the dissenting opinions. The present writer of this thesis hopes that the examination of the positions of these two persons will not only confirm how they advocated the importance of the special class for“ poor-minded children" at that time, but also lead to a clue to reconsider the importance of separated education even though the present educational circles are looking toward the integrated education throughout the world. | |||||||||||
