| 内容記述 | In Man'yoshu, there are extremely few waka poems which were composed about the scent; besides, they just appear towards the end of the era of Man'yoshu poetry. On the other hand, some Chinese poems which wrote about `floral scent' are found in Kaifuso, the first Chinese-style poem anthology by Japanese in this country. The purpose of this study is to analyze the relationship between the expressions used to describe the sense of smell in both Man'yoshu and Kaifuso poetry with particular attention to Kaifuso. In the analysis, I extract Chinese characters that show `sense of smell' and `materials with fragrance' from Kaifuso, and closely examine their usage. And the following two points can be confirmed as a result. First, even if the Chinese characters which show a certain scent appear, most of them are used to convey adomiration or a certain aesthetic value not simply to express fragrance. I have gathered that there is something which has much to do with the usage of the word “kaguhashi(か ぐ は し)" used in Man'yoshu. Moreover, most of the phrases are taken from the verses of the Chinese poems of Six dynasty period and Tang dynasty, and are just fixed expressions. On the other hand, there are three examples of poems in which `a fragrance moves to the clothes' was written. It is said, however, that such a kind of expression is not frequently seen in the poetry of Six dynasty period and Tang dynasty. This resemble certain expressions used in waka poems in Man'yoshu in which `a color dyes the clothes' was written. It is thought that the native Japanese word “nihofu(にほふ)' was a background influence. The word “nihofu" has a wide expanse of meaning that can not be defined in Chinese words, also it is because color and fragrance were inseparably combined in recognizing the characters. It is thought that the poets of Kaifuso had been unconsciously influenced by their mother tongue when writing these poems. | |||||||||||
